Meet Chloe. She is a banana, ice monster that enjoys dancing on the plate. Chloe was served alongside my daughter's french toast topped with snow (powdered sugar) on a nice Chicago winter day. My three year old daughter named the banana creation. I then prompted her to use her imagination by asking her what does Chloe like to do? My daughter went on to tell me an entertaining story about Chloe's interests. I loved this! My daughter was using her imagination without any trouble. I am confident that routine play such as this will enhance her creative writing skills down the road. The beauty of it all is that learning is taking place in such a fun and unique way that my daughter does not even realize it.
Sometimes I search Pinterest for inspiration, but often I use the food that's on the plate and create something of my own. Chloe is my own creation as you might be able to tell :) She is made with a half of banana (split down the middle), peanut butter, raisins, and a small marshmallow split into two.
